Harriette Gordon

Harriette Gordon is an Australian designer, creating thoughtful, romantic and refined bridal pieces for the woman of today. Harriette was completely besotted with fashion from day dot. One of her fondest memories from her childhood was wearing black patent leather Mary Janes on her father’s yacht sailing around Australia along with the long awaited trips to go shopping in the city, whilst growing up in Northern Western Australia. Harriette’s Mother was a photographer and dressmaker before devoting her time to raising her children. Her Father a carpenter by trade turned sandblasting industrialist for the mining industry. Both instilled in their children a love for creating, working with their hands and following their intuition.

Harriette studied Fashion Design at Curtin University yet had a strong inclination to ‘make’ so she transferred into the practice focused course at Fremantle TAFE, Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Textiles. With inspiring teachers she learnt to pattern make, sew to a technically high standard and develop a strong creative process.

Alongside studying, Harriette worked as a sample machinist for local designers and more permanently at a clothing alteration store, sewing everything from jean zips to bridal gown alterations and mens suit tailoring. This was invaluable experience on ‘fit’ and tailoring to many body types.

Harriette insists on working with the best fabrics, mainly silk in premium weight and multiple forms, laces from Italy, France, Japan and India.
